What Do We Believe?

Here at Zion, our faith comes from a Lutheran perspective. We believe in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe and preach the truth of Jesus Christ–that He was the one and only Son of God, died and rose again to save us from our sins. Our formal principle, or the source of where our teachings come from, is solely from Holy Scripture; the Bible. We believe the Holy Scripture is inerrant and that the events in the Bible actually took place. We also believe that scripture interprets scripture, thereby if a passage is obscure, one can simply find other passages that can clarify the message. Our material principle, or our central teaching, is all about God’s grace and how Christ earned salvation for all sinners. Salvation is earned through FAITH alone, apart from works done for Christ’s sake. We believe in the theology of the cross; thereby we see ourselves as sinners all throughout our entire lives and no amount of good deeds will grant us salvation. Instead, we refer to the Holy Scripture in John 3:16 and believe that God so loved the world that He sent His one and only son to die and forgive us of our sins and that whoever should believe in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
