Class time is dedicated to spiritual and social growth with significant emphasis on academics. The goal of Kindergarten Ready is to prepare students for success in Kindergarten the following year.

Spiritual Life
Children learn about God’s love through different stories from The Beginner’s Bible. We learn about The Fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Academic Life

Language Arts: Through the Scholastic curriculum children learn the ABCs, practice their writing strokes, identify word sounds and begin to recognize their names in print. Students are introduced to early writing skills and they practice using invented phonetic spelling in their writing. The students visit the school library once a week where they enjoy story time along with checking out books for personal enjoyment.

Math: The children learn to recite numbers, compare and classify groups of objects and identify shapes and patterns.

Science: In order for children to understand our world, attention is given to the study of plants, people and physical elements. The students also learn to care for living things. The science specialist visits the classroom weekly for fun, hands-on experiments related to the curriculum.

Social Studies: Children learn about their world through field trips and activities. These allow them to experience how families, communities and our society work together.

Physical Education: Students develop coordination and large motor skills. Various exercises, games, and group activities provide learning and practice. The children learn how to be part of a team.

Art and Music: Self-expression is encouraged through words, play dough, markers, paints, crayons, music and other mediums with attention paid to visual detail. The children participate in class songs and Christmas and Easter programs.

Library: We have weekly lessons in the library that line up with other pieces of our curriculum, in addition to opportunities to check out books.
