At Zion Lutheran School, we follow our own published curriculum, which has been carefully vetted and approved by our accrediting agency, the National Lutheran Schools Association. While our curriculum may differ from Washington State’s public school curriculum—including Washington’s Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards—it closely aligns in many areas, shares similar objectives, and covers comparable units. Students at Zion generally learn much of the same foundational knowledge as their peers in public schools, but we retain the right to adapt and refine our curriculum to reflect our core values, religious beliefs, and mission. Additionally, we strive to go above and beyond the standards set in neighboring schools to ensure a rigorous and well-rounded education. Teachers have the flexibility to emphasize particular aspects of the curriculum and incorporate their own strengths and interests into their instruction. As a private Christian school, we are especially grateful for the opportunity to integrate God’s truth into every lesson, teaching our faith as a central part of our students’ education.
