Our Story
Zion Lutheran School was founded in 1901 by a group of faithful families who believed in the importance of providing a Christ-centered education rooted in Scripture. Beginning in a one-room schoolhouse with just a few students, the school quickly became a beacon of faith, learning, and community in Lake Stevens. Generations of families have passed through our doors, shaped by a legacy of strong biblical values and a commitment to service.
As we look to the future, we are excited to continue this mission, equipping young minds and hearts for life through Christ. With God’s guidance and the support of our dedicated staff and families, we move forward in faith, ready for all He has in store.

Our Mission
Budling Foundations and transforming lives in Christ
At our school, we are committed to nurturing a love for learning while deepening each child’s relationship with Jesus. We believe that true education integrates both academic growth and spiritual formation.
As students explore the world around them, we guide them to see it through the lens of faith, growing not just in knowledge, but in character, purpose, and love for others. With Christ at the center, every lesson becomes an opportunity to walk in His footsteps, embrace His truth, and experience the joy of learning through Him.
Our Values
I take care of myself.
I take care of others.
I take care of this place.
Our core values are grounded in our Christian faith, especially the call to live with responsibility and care. We teach our students to honor God by nurturing their whole selves: body, mind, and spirit.
We encourage them to care for others through acts of love, kindness, and respect, and to be mindful stewards of the world around them by recognizing that every space we occupy is a gift from God, entrusted to us to value and protect.
Through these guiding principles, we strive to raise compassionate, responsible leaders who will make a meaningful impact on their communities and the world.

Our Beliefs
- We believe in God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)
- We believe in sharing the truth of Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, who died and
rose again to save us from our sins.
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
- Our formal principle and source of teaching come solely from the Bible.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
- We believe that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
- Our central teaching is about God’s grace, Christ, and salvation for all sinners through faith
alone, apart from works, done for Christ's sake.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- We believe in the promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
